Good News Phase One And Two Of OSBP Project – Our Freight Bypass Road Completed In Record Time
Dear MCLI Reader
One of the high lights of my career on Friday – under the blow of vuvuzelas – our first ever truck on the freight by-pass road at the border post (Moz Side) – indeed action and progress after our visit July 2009 to the border post with SA Minister of Public Works Geoff Doidge and Dr Tivane of Mozambique customs - the Mozambican side of the bypass road completed in record time of 60 days! Congratulations and well done to both countries!
Friday, the road saw the first ever commercial trucks on it in an interim arrangement for the period of the world cup, where after it will be closed again for 30days to complete the security fencing, canopies and sides.
During the period of the world cup the trucks will be jointly processed at KM 4 and KM7 (Old airfield in Komatipoort) and then escorted via the bypass road at the border post – it is now safe for our travellers at the border post and I am afraid, where MCLI was inundated with calls about the dangerous congested border post, we will now get call to find out why things are so quiet there!
The official opening will take place once the total project has been completed in due course and MCLI will keep you informed of the progress in this regard!
Best Regards
